“Do your own time.” – prison saying
Two things rob the world of wonder:
Reducing life to magic numbers
And twisting it to hide your blunders.
Which is which is hard to say.
One denies there’s a price to pay,
While the other calls the crooked straight.
They both believe their wants are rights
And shouldn’t have to really fight,
But mommy’s gone, now who’ll provide?
You can take no stand unless you rise.
Until you put away your lies,
You can make no claim on being wise.
Whether you win or lose this game,
Beyond your shrill avowals of blame,
The only thing you got’s your name.
A tercet on the Anonymous/Sabu conflict. Bonus: Frost allusion.
Numbers is a weekly news commentary column in poetical form by Curt Hopkins. “Numbers” is an historic term for poetry, and also alludes to the numbers in programming.
