Numbers: A heavy stone

“What happens when a new work of art is created is something that happens simultaneously to all the works of art that proceeded it. “ — T.S. Eliot

Nach Auschwitz ein Gedicht zu schreiben ist barbarisch.” — Theodor Adorno

Temporal actions are skipped stones, striking the water, then sinking.
Agency propagates force only at moments of change.

Synchrony lights all the axes, shifting the charge from the future,
Altering origin itself, driving the future abaft.

Hate-fuck’s no longer outré. It’s rape and the radio’s poison,
Voice of corrosion and rust, fetishes crumble to dust.

Speech is the product of time and time is a function of language.
Look at your face in the glass: break one, break both.

Numbers is a weekly news commentary column in poetical form by Curt Hopkins. “Numbers” is an historic term for poetry, and also alludes to the numbers in programming.
