“Nonviolent extremism” is just as dangerous as terrorism, according to David Cameron, Prime Minister of the UK, who presumably was not referring to Gandhi and Nelson Mandela SPECIFICALLY at the time. Nonetheless, Cameron has been very clear that dissent and free speech have no place in his country.
UK Prime Minister David Cameron told the U.N. that “non-violent extremism” is just as dangerous as terrorism and must be eradicated using all means at the government’s disposal. He references 9/11 and 7/7 Truthers as examples of the type of extremism that must be dealt in a similar fashion to ISIS.
The PM basically said that new laws are needed to battle ideology that the state does not sanction. Dissent not part of democracy.
