For
flipping over tables and interrupting a corporate presentation, you get shot. UPDATE: No, the person who actually disrupted the presentation was not shot. The police were called to deal with him but reportedly shot a completely different man in a Guy Fawkes mask.Thursday night electical utility behemoth BC Hydro hosted an “open house” in Dawson Creek. The presentation was met with a protest from those who oppose the environmental consequences of BC Hydro’s plans for the area. One man flipped over tables and ripped posters down.
Some time after that, a man in a Guy Fawkes mask carrying a knife caused a disturbance at the local restaurant where the event took place. Police, who’d been called out to deal with the rowdy protester earlier, shot him on the scene.
“We verified, verified, verified. At two o’clock I was told the same guy, at three o’clock I was told the same guy, then I land in Dawson Creek and I’m told ‘different guy,'” said Kellie Kilpatrick, executive director of public accountability with the Independent Investigations Office (IIO) at a media conference at 7 p.m. Friday.

This is only the second recorded in-mask death of an Anon. The first occurred almost exactly a year ago, when IDF forces shot and killed 22-year-old University student and #OpIsrael participant Al-Tayyeb Mohamed Abu Shehadeh on July 25, 2014.

No specific details of the Dawson Creek Anon are available at this time, but won’t be long in coming. The North is close-knit. Investigators are on the scene from Vancouver.
This video of the shooting comes from Cory Pfeipher on Facebook, and it is graphic.
“The cops just fucking shot this guy. He’s fucking dead. There’s blood everywhere. This is fucked up.”

Dawson Creek RCMP await the arrival of IIO investigators outside the Fixx Urban Grill restaurant, where a man was shot dead by police Thursday night outside a Site C open house. Police held the scene while members of the independent police investigations office flew in from Vancouver.
RCMP shot and killed a masked man outside a restaurant in Dawson Creek last night.
Investigators from the Independent Investigations Office (IIO) boarded a flight from Vancouver this morning to Fort St. John and were expected to be in Dawson Creek around 11 a.m.
The shooting took place outside the Fixx Urban Grill restaurant at the Stonebridge Hotel on Highway 2 near the outskirts of the city. RCMP were called to the restaurant around 6:30 p.m. last night to reports of a man disrupting and damaging property at a BC Hydro open house on the Site C dam project.

I think this was excessive force. The protester had a knife, but was on the ground surrounded by RCMP when he was shot. He was no threat to the RCMP member who fired the fatal shots. This is what we have to expect from now on in Canada when we protest against bad decisions being made by our elected government. This will not dissuade us from future protest against the proposed site C dam. We do not want this dam and will be there telling our side every step of the way. This has only just begun!!!

Well he would be, wouldn’t he?

Don’t take a knife to a gun fight and don’t where a mask.

You’re legally allowed to wear a mask to a protest. Since when do Canadians have to consult a “likelihood my clothing will get me shot” chart before making outerwear choices?
Everyone in the North has a knife. I live on the 49th Parallel, and I have a knife.

No, you’re not. From wikipedia: After several high profile protests, the Canadian Parliament introduced Bill C-309, which bans the wearing of masks during a riot or other unlawful assembly. The bill became law on June 19, 2013. Those convicted of it face up to 10 years in prison.

A protest is not a riot or unlawful assembly.
Really, how much more could you possibly be wrong about in one day?
We know the Anon who was shot, it was not Dennis Collins, and we will release his name when we have independent confirmation.

The next step, of course, is to identify the fallen Anon.

His handle was “Owen” and his real name was Dennis Collins

No. Dennis Collins died yes, but he died at his desk in the US. He is not the Anon killed by the RCMP and we will be running his obituary Monday.
